Announcements and Important Events
As mandated by the MDHHS, ALL Spring Sports Athletes at Portage Central High School are going to need to be COVID-19 Rapid tested on a weekly basis in order to participate. Portage Central is providing testing from 4:00 - 7:00 pm each Sunday at the PCHS Stable Auxiliary Facility.
Make sure to have the following forms filled out and returned to Portage Central Athletic Trainer Rachel Leonard at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The procedure for testing is as follows:
1. Enter through Main Stable Entrance. Check-in and sanitize hands. Receive “Day of Testing Form” and fill out (Spread out on Bleachers if more room is needed)
2. Go to one of the three testing stations. Socially distance in line. When it’s your turn, turn in day of testing form, receive swab from tester, self-swab and return swab to tester.
3. Exit through the North Side Garage Door. Student-Athletes will be notified if their Rapid Test result is positive.
It is also outlined in the following graphic:
Q: If a student-athlete has been fully vaccinated, do they still have to Rapid Test?
A: Yes. There are still concerns that those who are vaccinated can carry enough of the virus to spread it to others.
Q: If my student-athlete has had COVID-19 within the last 90 days, do they still have to Rapid Test?
A: No. Those that have had COVID-19 within the last 90 days are exempt from the testing protocol. Evidence of this diagnosis by way of a Dr's note must be shared with Portage Central Athletic Trainer, Rachel Leonard, at email@example.com.
